About Irish Black Cattle

 Heirloom Farms is a family owned farm with the primary purpose of raising high quality Irish Black beef. Irish Black beef is a premium cattle breed known for very high quality meat. 

Genetics & Purity

• Irish Black: A relatively rare breed developed for consistency in genetics, meat quality, and efficient reproduction. Bred with superior genetics, Irish Blacks maintain a high level of purity.
• Angus: A more widely known breed, with both Black Angus (most common in the U.S.) and Red Angus variations. There is more genetic variation in Angus cattle due to widespread breeding.

Meat Quality

• Marbling: Irish Blacks are specifically bred for highly consistent marbling and tenderness. Angus also delivers      excellent marbling, but with more variability due to genetic diversity.
• Flavor & Tenderness: Irish Black beef tends to have slightly finer muscle fiber, which can contribute to tenderness. Angus beef is well-known for its rich, beefy flavor.
